Feature Rides

The HCC Recreational Riding Program includes a number of annual Feature Rides designed for club members. High level information is below. Details will be published on TeamApp prior to the event date.

Good Friday Rec Ride

In 2014 the Hawthorn Cycling Club hosted the hugely popular Good Friday Criterium charity event, from which all entry fees were donated to the Good Friday Appeal. This event will be back in 2015, and this year for the first time it will be run in parallel with a Rec Ride.

Mansfield Weekend

A new feature event for the 2015 calendar, based out of Mansfield Victoria. This will be a full weekend of cycling including climbs of varying difficulties to support a wide range of rider skills.

Club Champs Rec Ride

The Club Champs Rec Ride is scheduled to coincide with the annual HCC Club Championships, typically run in late September at the Pitruzzello Estate Olive Grove & Vineyard near Gisborne South.

This Rec Ride is designed specifically to appeal to non-racing members, so that the day offers “something for everyone”. The ride is designed to finish back at the winery in time to see the completion of the men’s A-grade race before joining all the racers and spectators for lunch in the winery. A day not to be missed!

Alpine Intro Weekend

The 2014 Alpine Intro Weekend was the Rec Riding Program’s first ever multi-day event. The weekend was designed to accommodate riders new to climbing and those more experienced in the hills. It featured three days of springtime riding in the mountains, in our typical relaxed, friendly and supportive environment.

The weekend package included accommodation, meals and some incredibly rewarding riding.

HCC Alpine Intro 2014

The weekend will be run again in Spring 2015 with full details to be published closer to the event.

Christmas Town Haul

The Rec Riding Program celebrates Christmas by holding a very special Town Haul Christmas Ride. Riders show off their style by wearing Santa kit or adding Christmas lights to their bike in the spirit of the Festive Season.

This is a supported ride so all levels of riders are encouraged to join in.
